{"id":3669,"date":"2020-04-28T14:53:24","date_gmt":"2020-04-28T12:53:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.smartgeosrl.com\/2020\/04\/28\/environmental-and-structural-monitoring-systems\/"},"modified":"2025-10-03T10:59:19","modified_gmt":"2025-10-03T08:59:19","slug":"environmental-and-structural-monitoring-systems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.smartgeosrl.com\/en\/environmental-and-structural-monitoring-systems\/","title":{"rendered":"Environmental and structural monitoring systems"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> The monitoring of the structures is becoming an increasingly topical issue, as well as a pressing need.<br\/> There is an urgent need to monitor the multitude of man-made works, including bridges, dams, tunnels, buildings, monuments, pylons.<br\/>Extending the horizon, to this is added the constant need to control any movement of landslides, avalanches, or rock falls and to avoid flooding due to flooding of rivers or lakes.<br\/> To meet these needs, SENSing srl, a spin-off of the Engineering Department of the University of L&#8217;Aquila, which operates in the industrial electronics sector, has developed the Smart Monitoring system, an autonomous &#8220;intelligent&#8221; electronic system for remote monitoring, control and alarm of the security of the territory and of the structures and infrastructures.<br\/> <br\/> The system consists of one or more sensors, each equipped with a solar panel, therefore energetically autonomous (but possibly also powered by electricity), which can be declined in various configurations, equipped with an accelerometer (or inclinometer, or water sensor in operation of the problems) and able to detect displacements and vibrations, even of minimal entity. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each of them\ntherefore represents a node (accelerometric, inclinometric,\n hydrometric, thermometric&#8230;)  \n<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The data is then\ncontinuously sent to a main datalogger which takes care\nof sending the data on a special web portal dedicated to the\ncustomer. Everything is therefore adaptable both to monitoring and to\nemergency and alarm systems, via messages, emails or light or sound signals\n.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to the detection\nof sensational events, the system also allows continuous monitoring\nof the structural and functional &#8220;well-being&#8221; of bridges,\n buildings, structures and infrastructures of various types.<br\/> The\nsystem therefore makes it possible to monitor relatively low-impact\nphenomena such as wind, traffic, settlements, microtremors, verifying\ntheir effect on structural safety.
